Use current model-specific quotes rather than a generic UK battery price. Cost depends on access, part supply, labour, configuration, sealing, delivery and whether another fault is found.

Compare the service routes

Battery percentage is one signal; symptoms, heat and supported diagnostics matter too.

Build the total quote

Include diagnosis, battery, labour, VAT, delivery, any failed-repair fee and the cost of being without the phone. Ask whether the quote changes if the screen, frame or rear cover is damaged during access or already compromised.

Do not compare only the battery label

A claimed capacity number does not prove cell quality, safety or compatibility. Ask whether the phone will report the replacement normally, whether configuration is completed and what written warranty applies to capacity loss and installation faults.

Illustrative decision

Illustrative figures only. A £75 battery service with six months' warranty and local collection may be better value than a £55 mail-in quote after £12 delivery each way and a shorter warranty. Normalise the full cost and remedy.

Check current official prices

Manufacturers can publish model-specific battery service prices, but the device normally requires inspection. Save the price page and booking confirmation on the day you arrange service.

A cracked back, bent frame or damaged screen can make battery access riskier and change the quote. Ask whether the repairer will stop if an additional part is needed and what happens if the screen breaks during removal.

Ask how the replacement is verified

After fitting, the service should test charging, shutdown behaviour and temperature. On models that report battery information, ask whether health data and parts status will display normally. Retain the diagnostic result where provided.

Account for downtime

A same-day local service and a week-long mail-in service are not equal if the phone is needed for work or authentication. Include a temporary handset, postage and the risk of missed access in the ownership calculation.

Cancellation and failed diagnosis

Clarify whether ordering the part creates a non-refundable commitment, what is charged if you decline the revised quote and whether the old battery will be returned or safely recycled. These terms should be known before the phone is opened.
