Fit matters more than the label

A protector that covers sensors, lifts at the case edge or interferes with fingerprint recognition is unsuitable regardless of material. Confirm the exact phone variant and case combination.

Install and test immediately

Check touch across the whole display, keyboard accuracy, proximity behaviour, front camera quality and biometrics. Use the seller’s current return process if the product is incompatible.

Know what remains exposed

Protectors do not prevent frame bending, rear-glass damage, liquid ingress or every display fracture. A case and careful handling address different risks.

When no protector is a reasonable choice

A careful user with a suitable case, low abrasion exposure and acceptance of ordinary wear may choose the bare screen. The decision should reflect risk tolerance and replacement cost, not fear-based sales claims.

Replace for visibility or safety

Replace a protector that is lifting, sharply chipped, badly cracked or impairing touch and viewing. A cracked protector does not prove that it “saved” the screen; it only shows that the protector itself failed under the event.
