Phone repair prices vary too quickly by model, part and service route for a single UK price list to remain reliable. Use current written quotes for the exact model and compare what each quote includes.
What drives the cost

| Repair | Main cost drivers | Common hidden issue |
|---|---|---|
| Screen assembly | OLED/LCD type, frame inclusion, biometric or calibration work | A bent frame or swollen battery makes a screen-only quote incomplete |
| Battery | Access difficulty, adhesive, part, configuration and resealing | The battery may not be the cause of drain or charging trouble |
| Charging port | Cleaning, modular part or board-level soldering | Cable, adaptor, moisture or debris can mimic port failure |
| Camera | Single module, full camera set, lens cover or stabilisation fault | A cracked outer lens and a failed camera module are different repairs |
| Speaker or microphone | Module access, mesh, flex cable or board fault | Moisture, dirt or settings can produce similar symptoms |
| Liquid damage | Extent of corrosion, parts affected and diagnostic time | A successful clean does not guarantee long-term reliability |

Record:
- diagnostic fee;
- part and labour;
- VAT;
- postage or collection;
- data-recovery charge if separate;
- unrepaired return fee;
- repair warranty;
- temporary phone cost or downtime.
Manufacturer websites can provide model-specific estimates, but inspection may change the amount. Independent quotes may use a different part standard, so do not compare prices without comparing scope.
When a quote is not yet a repair price
“From £49” or a remote estimate is not a fixed total. Ask whether the price assumes no frame damage, no liquid ingress and no previous repair. A low screen quote can increase after opening the phone if the chassis is bent or another component has failed.
Use repair cost in the ownership decision
Compare the repair with a suitable replacement, remaining support life and other expected work. See how to compare repair quotes and the repair decision hub.
Why model names are not enough
The same phone family can have several sizes, regional variants and storage configurations. A quote for a base model may not apply to the Pro, Plus, Fold or Ultra version. Provide the exact model number rather than relying only on the retail name.
Repair costs can interact
Some repairs share labour because the phone is already open; others require a second assembly. Ask whether combining battery and screen work changes the total and whether doing one repair now makes a later repair cheaper or more difficult. Do not add two website prices and assume the combined job will equal that sum.
Account for the condition after repair
A repaired phone may be worth more than a broken one, but the uplift is not guaranteed to equal the repair bill. Buyers may discount a device with an unknown part, reduced water-resistance confidence or visible frame damage. Repair for continued use and repair for immediate resale can produce different decisions.
When not to chase the cheapest repair
Price matters less when the phone holds critical authentication, accessibility settings or irreplaceable data. In those cases, data handling, technician capability and a clear failure process can be worth more than a small headline saving.
