The minimum protection set

  1. Use a non-guessable device passcode and biometric unlock where suitable.
  2. Keep the operating system and apps within support and updated.
  3. Enable the platform's find, lock and erase service before a loss occurs.
  4. Protect the primary email and important accounts with strong authentication.
  5. Back up irreplaceable data and test account recovery.
  6. Use a case and charging equipment appropriate to the real physical risks.

Insurance is a separate decision. It may transfer some financial risk, but it does not replace security settings, evidence, backups or safe handling.
