Phone Buying for Business — editorial illustration

Business phone buying is not simply a consumer purchase multiplied by the number of staff. The organisation must choose who owns the device, how it is managed, what happens when an employee leaves and which costs continue through the contract term.

Use a lifecycle budget

Include procurement, airtime, deployment, device management, support, spares, insurance, repairs, employee changes, secure wiping and residual value. A low monthly quote can be expensive if it locks the organisation into unsuitable devices or slow support.

Keep the business boundary clear

Do not assume that a purchase made for business purposes receives every consumer cancellation or goods remedy. Telecom protections also vary by organisation size. Check the legal customer named in the contract and ask the supplier to identify the terms and Ofcom protections that apply.
